Trip to Montana 2010

We went to Montana (Kory's hometown of Sunburst that is) for about a week in early July. Kory had his all-school reunion. Yes, I said 'all' school. There were only about 17 people in his class.

Here is what Colter and Molly look like on an over 13-hour drive.

After a very long drive Thursday afternoon through early Friday morning, we arrived. Friday night was a meal in town and hanging out. Saturday morning we did a walk/jog. Later we went to the parade, at which Kory's dad Dave carried a flag.

There was a ton of candy being thrown from the parade to the kids in the street. Colter's cousin Bryan got a lot of suckers!

Colter hanging out in his stroller at one point during the parade.

Colter got a few suckers, too.

Colter and Grandpa Dave.

Walking through the car show.

Another day we went to Lethbridge, Alberta in Canada.

Here there was an awesome park.

We did a photo shoot of Bryan and Colter. It's hard to get two toddlers in-sync for a picture. But we got a bunch of cute ones.

Favorite!

Colter and Bryan had fun playing in a tent of a vendor that was in town.

Lots of fun was had playing fetch with Molly.

Whenever possible, Colter must sweep.

Just learning to kick the ball.

I found an old picture of the barn in the attic.

Or not.

Colter learns about taking care of his pet by feeding Molly.

And decides to join in!

What's that look all about?

Helping Daddy and Grandpa cut the barn board that is going home with us.

Open farm land. Ahhhh......

More fun with Molly.

Sunset with Molly posing. She hates when I make her sit for a picture.

Colter learns about gardening.

And helps Grandma and Kira pick the rhubarb.

A big harvest.

The lawnmower. One of many vehicles Colter found to ride.

This one was a little too big to hop in.

We drove out into the fields to visit the cows. Of course along the way, Kory had to shoot the gophers.

Colter was a little apprehensive at first.

There were a lot of cows staring at him.

Mamas and their babies.

Daddy shows Colter the cows are ok and won't hurt him.

Moving closer...

And he chases them away.

800 lb. cows afraid of a 23 lb. toddler.

Cactus in the field. Montana is sort of a dessert.

Mooo... glad to meet you Colter! He kept calling them 'doggie'.

I'm glad we found time to take a family picture.

Kira took these for us.

Alaska Cruise 2010

I am finally getting around to blogging about our cruise to Alaska we took in June. This was the third cruise we have ever taken. All of which have been on Royal Caribbean.

Our 7-night cruise was on Royal Caribbean's Rhapsody of the Seas. It departed from Seattle and went to the following places:

Our stateroom with a window. Some nights they put towel creations on our bed.

Kory and me...

The pool... where are all the sunbathers? Our two previous cruises were to the Caribbean, so it was strange to not be able to hang out on the pool deck.

Seattle, WA

Hanging out with Andrew, LaVonne, Beth and Steven.

Standing by a crab pot in Juneau. The reality TV show Deadliest Catch is a favorite of ours.

This picture sums up how I felt most of the trip: cold!

View from the ship of beautiful Alaska.

Glacier in the mountain.

Outside of our stateroom was this poster. It helped us quickly find our room. The ship is so big, getting lost happens.

At our first stop in Juneau, we took a helicopter ride to a glacier. It was just Kory, me and the pilot. It was cool to have our own private tour. Although that meant we got the smaller helicopter, yikes!

The glacier was amazing!

It looks like tire tracks, but is actually where three glaciers met.

In Skagway, we took a short train ride to a trailhead and hiked about 6-miles round trip.

The forest was awesome.

This caboose has been turned into a camp space.

There was a rushing stream all along the route.

The cruise ship sailed into Tracy Arm Fjord.

We saw wild life along the way, including seals.

At the end of the fjord, was a glacier.

Dinner on the ship was in the formal dining room. For breakfast and lunch, we usually ate in the cafeteria buffet.

Every night had some sort of entertainment, usually in the theatre.

We usually hung out together.

One night was karaoke. Kory and I got 'grabbed' as we were trying to sit down. He had us doing the song from Grease 'Summer Lovin'. Kory mostly sang; I didn't want to hurt anyone's ears. Here is Steven singing 'I'm Too Sexy'.

In Victoria, we saw The Butchart Gardens. A huge garden with wonderful flowers and plants to view.

Sunken Gardens. This used to be a quarry.

Souvenir shopping on our way back to the ship in Victoria.
