Alaska Cruise 2010

I am finally getting around to blogging about our cruise to Alaska we took in June. This was the third cruise we have ever taken. All of which have been on Royal Caribbean.

Our 7-night cruise was on Royal Caribbean's Rhapsody of the Seas. It departed from Seattle and went to the following places:

The pool... where are all the sunbathers? Our two previous cruises were to the Caribbean, so it was strange to not be able to hang out on the pool deck.

Glacier in the mountain.

Outside of our stateroom was this poster. It helped us quickly find our room. The ship is so big, getting lost happens.

At our first stop in Juneau, we took a helicopter ride to a glacier. It was just Kory, me and the pilot. It was cool to have our own private tour. Although that meant we got the smaller helicopter, yikes!

It looks like tire tracks, but is actually where three glaciers met.

In Skagway, we took a short train ride to a trailhead and hiked about 6-miles round trip.

The forest was awesome.

This caboose has been turned into a camp space.

There was a rushing stream all along the route.

The cruise ship sailed into Tracy Arm Fjord.

We saw wild life along the way, including seals.

At the end of the fjord, was a glacier.

Dinner on the ship was in the formal dining room. For breakfast and lunch, we usually ate in the cafeteria buffet.

Every night had some sort of entertainment, usually in the theatre.

We usually hung out together.

One night was karaoke. Kory and I got 'grabbed' as we were trying to sit down. He had us doing the song from Grease 'Summer Lovin'. Kory mostly sang; I didn't want to hurt anyone's ears. Here is Steven singing 'I'm Too Sexy'.

In Victoria, we saw The Butchart Gardens. A huge garden with wonderful flowers and plants to view.
