Trains and Rocks

Another post about our weekend... This time our long Memorial Day weekend. We started out Thursday night with a concert at Grizzly Rose - a young un' Easton Corbin - "I'm a Little More Country Than That". Colter had his first sleep over at Aunt Marcia, Uncle Mike and Blake's house. He had fun. So did we!

Another big event of the weekend, was our drive to the mountains. Colter's first time; my first time in about two years. We went to Georgetown to ride the Georgetown Loop Train.

Here's Colter excited to go ride it.

All Aboard!

Colter had a great time!

The open-air car was neat. Colter stood on the seat to get a better view.

The bridge was really high. Yikes!

There were a few other little kids on the train. But mostly older people. Must be the attraction of this slower paced activity.

Sepia toned.

The mountains are gorgeous! We are really lucky to have them in our backyard - just an hour drive from our house.

Here comes the steam train. Choo-choo!

Kory wished we had taken the steam train instead of the diesel train.

Standing next to an old train. This is what it would look like if Daddy and Colter were back in the olden days. Although, Kory would probably have on slacks and a hat. Not shorts and a fleece.

Flowing stream.

A fun ride was had by all of us.

Another view of the area.

Mommy and Colter. Just think, some day he'll probably be taller than me.

Afterwards, a stop in Idaho Springs to eat some pizza at Beau Jo's (our favorite is the Dude Ranch).

We took the back way home on the scenic hwy 103. Amazing!

Also, this weekend, we did some planting. And by 'we' I mean very loosely 'we', as Kory did most of the digging.

However, I did put the petunias in the hanging baskets. And the tomato plants in the buckets.

Here comes Colter, ready to help.

Helping, by sitting on the blanket in the grass.

We also fixed the sprinkler systems at our three rental houses. And here I really loosely mean 'we', as Colter and I just watched.

Colter had a blast playing with his water table I got off craigslist.org for only $15.

He likes to take water in his shovel and drink it.

Yum!

Other food ate this weekend by Colter were his three meals a day, and of course two snacks.

Colter loves rocks. Wherever we are, school, train ride, front yard, back yard, he will find a rock. Actually, two rocks, one for each hand and sometimes another for his mouth. Careful, baby, don't choke!

Rocks are fun to put in Daddy's sandals.

Finally, we ended the long weekend with a dip in the little pool.

Splish-splash!

Splash-splash!

Then, we rigged up the slide to go into the pool. Weeeee...!
